COLLECTIVE LIVING: A DENSIFICATION STRATEGY

Regenerative Housing Model
Developed as part of the Symbiotic Urban Movement (SUM) team, the proposal renovates an existing post-war housing block through modular top-up units and upgraded communal infrastructure, extending the building's lifespan rather than replacing it. Shared spaces, improved circulation, and energy-efficient systems establish a new residential model that strengthens community while responding to contemporary housing.

The House Demonstration Unit (HDU) translates the proposal into a full-scale prototype, combining a renovated ground floor with a prefabricated timber top-up dwelling. Designed for efficient assembly and disassembly, the prototype demonstrates circular construction principles, modular design, and adaptable living, while showcasing renewable materials and an innovative façade system.
